Commercial contracts drafted in English are an everyday reality for many legal professionals. This practical workshop equips participants with the skills needed to draft, review and interpret commercial agreements in clear and accurate legal English. Combining Polish legal practice with selected concepts of English contract law, the training focuses on contractual terminology, drafting techniques and legal principles frequently encountered in modern commercial agreements.
The training is designed as an interactive workshop, encouraging participants to actively engage in practical drafting exercises, contract analysis and discussion.
The training aims to:
- develop practical skills in drafting, reviewing and interpreting commercial contracts in Englis,
- amiliarise participants with the structure and language of commercial agreements,
- explain selected concepts of English contract law relevant to commercial drafting,
- improve participants' understanding of modern contract drafting techniques and legal English.
By attending this training, you will:
- learn how to draft and review commercial contracts in clear and accurate legal Englis,
- learn the structure of commercial contracts, including the parties’ description, recitals, definitions, operative provisions and boilerplate clauses,
- learn the terminology commonly used in English-language commercial contracts,
- learn the names, purpose and key characteristics of the most common commercial agreements,
- learn the terminology used to describe standard contractual provisions, including representations, warranties, undertakings, indemnities, conditions precedent and conditions subsequent,
- learn how to use standard contractual phrases and modern drafting conventions in commercial agreements,
- understand the key differences between Polish and English contract law relevant to commercial contracting,
- become familiar with selected concepts of English contract law frequently encountered in commercial agreements,
- identify and avoid common drafting mistakes, ambiguities and ineffective contractual wording,
- improve your drafting and contract review skills through practical exercises based on real-life commercial agreements.
